We at the GOYP have networking in our blood: we do it since 300 years and are of course the most successful networking event ever, in Bangkok, in Thailand … actually in the whole world. You could basically call us “The Mother of the Networking Event Youth” (MONEY).

Unfortunately this city is horribly socially over-networked, so we have to exaggerate to maintain a more impressing image than the others. It used to be enough to say “we are a German networking event” and ZAPP – we had attention. Nobody expects Germans to network. Not this way anyway.

But times have changed – and so must our marketing.

It is probably needless to say that we managed to become millionaires over the years with this event. All of our guests became millionaires too. Come to our event and you will have fantastic business opportunities, become a millionaire in a month or two, everything you touch will turn into gold (really), you will earn success, be socially responsible by definition and – most important to some – you will develop an irresistibly attractive charm to the opposite sex.

Money, fame, sex, happiness – if this doesn’t convince you to join our events … then there’s no hope for you. But thanks for reading this anyway.

OK, now that you came that far, here's the real story:

In the Summer of 2004 we (Matthias, Inga, Michael, Christian) started a forum for German Young Professionals and our non-German friends, a forum to meet monthly and exchange ideas, stories, experiences and to contact with new people. Over a beer or two.

We have to admit that we also thought we might be able to turn this into an income, but this never came true. We realized that trying to make money with it would change the character and finally kill the event. Everyone who organizes the GOYP now does so with entirely altruistic motivation, from people for people. WE DO NOT EARN ANY MONEY WITH THIS EVENT! Whenever we charge and have money left, then this goes to charity or into our website. But mostly we strive to give all sponsorship money directly to the GOYP community. All events are planned and conducted as non-profit events.

Michael Berger

Michael lives many, many years in Bangkok and could be called “the engine” behind the GOYP. He spends countless hours scouting event locations, convincing their managers, wrapping up sponsorship packages, dealing with web-designers who suffer from Matt’s utterly creative and unrealistic ideas. Despite his complete lack of occasional outbursts of any kind – he is still quite amicable in general. He exercises regularly in the Old German Beerhouse and is NOT allergic to cats. Don’t bring any or if you have to – give them to him.

Michael has reached the highest level on the networking Richter scale: Level 10, rewarded with the Purple Belt of a Grandmaster. His achievements in networking are unrivalled and secured him a top-spot in the Networking Hall of Fame (16th basement of Nana Plaza garage, the purple belt is exhibited there as well), amongst other networking legends as Roger Hamilton, Ophra Winfrey, the Prince of Zamunda and – of course – the Muppets.
